Factory reset for Device given at #TDS15BLR ?

First off - the event was a blast! I learned a lot of things about Tizen and am looking forward to getting to know the OS better. In fact, I'd been tweeting on the event quite a bit)

Now, as to the reason for the title - I think I did something to the device and it won't return to the home screen anymore. :( Here is a picture of where I'm stuck with;

imgur.com/SkxjXKO

When I say home-screen, I'm referring to the screen with the calendar widget we've seen on the Z1 advertisements. Additionally, I can't get wifi working with the device. It WAS working, back in the conference venue (on an unsecured wifi network), but it won't connect to my (secured) home network.

Anyone know what I can do? I was planning to do some web development on the device, but without network access and a missing home screen, I'm lost.

Hey Abraham , to get back the home screen go to settings -> Device -> Applications -> Default applications -> Home and then home screen and to connect to your home network go to wifi in settings and then click on your network and make sure all the required parameters are set , as in ip adress (ie it shouldn't be 0.0.0.0) , gateway and dns and then try again.

Hello Shubhankar,

I removed the battery, reset the phone a few times and following your instructions, am able to connect to my home wifi network. Even browsed a few websites. Thanks! :)

Unfortunately, the home screen isn't coming up for me. I set the default application as 'Homescreen' (the other options were 'Simple Menu-screen' and 'homescreen-efl' - neither of them has any effect).

Is it possible to reset this devices to default settings? Or flash a fresh image to it?

Finally - what are the browser settings for this device? I'd like to clear my browser cache and start a tab in incognito mode, but can't find the options.

Yours,

Abraham V.

Z1 has key combo for Recovery mode...

I can see:

Phone init...

(Factory reset except SD card)

Maybe similar on Z3?

Best Regards

Peter Wegner

Short tested on Z1...

For Recovery Mode hold 3 keys at same time...

Volume UP

"middle key"

Power on

I have no Z3 to check self...

Good luck.

Best Regards

Abraham Varricatt

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. The phone just reboots. Pressing Volume DOWN + home + power gets me to the THOR download mode.

home + power starts the phone in normal mode.

There's no 'phone init' option, as far as I can see. :(

-Abraham V.

Peter Wegner

THOR download mode sounds interesting... because Z1 support ODIN...

Hmmmmmmm...

No idea or forgotten how RD-PQ work... is here any kind of Recovery Mode possible?

Short Google search... please CAUTION not to press wrong keys... but found here...

https://lists.tizen.org/pipermail/general/2013-November/002707.html

Maybe Z3 is again uboot driven...

So maybe really far far away from new commercial device...

:(

Here you can see what Z1 could show you...

Only as example...

But if you wrote about THOR... and Z3 looks like RD-PQ...

Maybe 1 day THOR downloader available with Z3 Firmware for Linux... like RD-PQ Images known...

Or maybe 1click THOR for Windows...

Only Samsung knows...

http://download.tizen.org/releases/2.3/2.3-mobile/ <--- for ALL mobile test devices, also Z3

Abraham Varricatt

@Marco,

I'm guessing that this sub-directory;

http://download.tizen.org/releases/2.3/2.3-mobile/tizen-2.3-mobile_20150311.3/images/target/mobile_target/

has the image I need.

Do you know how I can write (or flash) this image to my device? I'm assuming that I need to set it to the THOR download mode, but what tool should I use to flash the image?

-Abraham V.

Peter Wegner

Please Caution.

Why the hell Z3 should support OLD 2.3 Firmware if it is available since few days with Tizen 2.4...

Again, nobody is able to read and post text strings from About device?

Model?

Tizen version?

:)

Better try key combination for Recovery Option... or via SDB or AT Commands or other Commands to Reset...

Maybe also few Key Codes could work...

And why no menu to reset...

No Backup and reset or something similar in Settings?

Best Regards

Abraham Varricatt

Excellent questions Peter - I just wish I had equally excellent answers. :(

All I know is that from the Settings > About menu, the device claims to be running "TIZEN 2.4.0b" version. But from command line (posted on different thread) 'cat /etc/*-release' the device is "VERSION="2.2.0, Magnolia"".

Just baffling ... (X_X)

In other news; my device doesn't poweroff properly. Randomly, after selecting 'power off' the display still remains on showing artifacts of the shutdown animation logo...

Thanx Abraham Varricat.

Please remember...

Firmware is an big piece of Code... and sometimes obsolete Text strings survive...

Tizen Firmware/Tizen Store and other Apps check only API Version text string stored and visible under About device:

Tizen version

You could log for instance with SDB...

You will find 2.4.0b as mandatory info... in (theory), because Tizen Store App not installed and I have no device to check it self..

Please, what is model name of Z3 ?

RD-PQ for instance has text string:

Reference.Device-PQ

As Model name...

I have feelings... that SM-Z300H is not the Model name under About device...

Please help me to find the correct text string for Z3?

Thanx in advance.

Maybe then we know for what we need to search...

To find Firmware or Recovery Mode or Factory Reset... or other usefull things related to this Z3...

Best Regards

Abraham Varricatt

Under About device, Model number is "TM1" (without quotes)

-Abraham V.

Peter Wegner

Thank you very much Abraham Varricatt.

Found this...

Maybe here more support for TM1 owner...

http://samsung.tizenforum.com/?board=41.0

I have no TM1... only Z1...

As anyone ever flashed his TM1 ?
I am considering to, but I don't want to face regressions

please share your feedback at
https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/TM1

ps: let's keep this thread to TM1 and not Z1 or Z3 , their firwares are not supposed to be flashed on TM1 , you might brick your device

Phil rzr

I flashed mine with

https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/TM1#tizen-2.4-mobile_20151030.1

as tizen-2.4-mobile_20160531.3 didnt work, is there a repartitioner image to try ?

Peter Wegner

Partition map... PIT is inside U-Boot... if I am not wrong.

Taken this "idea" from RD-PQ...

So to change eMMC partition... U-Boot change required...

I will try to compare my "list" of partition infos with yours...

Here I have no idea from where this TM1 was... if India or China... no idea if Hw. 1...

Best Regards

Peter Wegner

u-boot-mmc.bin is inside TAR from:

tizen-2.4-mobile_20151030.1

If I remember correct. I never saw in Tizen 3 packages U-Boot Bootloader...

Check the other Images you tried... if U-Boot was inside or not...

My partition compare seems 1:1 same partition... So maybe this TM1 maybe was "also" from TDC2015...

We should try to ask someone from India to confirm PIT... with Command:

cat /proc/partitions

Thanx in advance.

Btw... PIT in TM1 U-Boot is not more PIT, which could be easier used by Copy & Paste...

Best Regards

Peter Wegner

Hmmm...

Found on my HD few RPMs... something like this...

u-boot-2016.03-26.19.armv7l.rpm

Inside files:

params.bin

u-boot.bin

u-boot-mmc.bin

From Repo folder...

Will later compare with U-Boot inside TAR...

Maybe its possible to add this to TAR... or flash seperate... without exploding TM1.

Then you need TM2.

:)

:)

Best Regards
