Tizen studio eats 30% of cpu

Tizen studio takes 30% of cpu without any background task.

My smal investigation showed me that tizen common plugins create a thread which creates this problem. How can I fix it? (ofcourse I switched the plugins off)

Hello!

On my end, Tizen Studio takes up to 13% of CPU when idle. I tried to run emulator and other tizen-studio related applications, but it didn't exceed 15%.

Can you please share configuration of your development machine ?

Alexander Yurkovets

Hello Mark!

My development machine has intel i7-4510u, 2.0 gHz, 8GB RAM, since it is a laptop, this problem is quite annoying due to heat.

I tested it on another machine and it takes 25% of CPU constantly. So I had to switch off the tizen common * plugins. Now I just start an emulator and since the ability to push the project has gone away when I switched off the tizen common plugins (it simply doesnt know whether an emulator on or not), I use sdb directly. Emulators themselves don't consume more than 5% constantly, which is totlay fine with me.

I suppose that tizen studio is trying to establish connection with emulator constantly and that causes this problem. For example Android studio doesn't have this problem CPU consumption no more than 1% constantly without any background tasks.

Your project won't work without tizen common plugins. Did you try increasing memory settings of the studio ? I mean the configuration file (installtaion_path/tizen-studio/ide/eclipse.ini). Try to increase Xmx and MaxPermSize values enabling tizen-common plugins. It is unusual for tizen studio to use CPU like this but may happen for garbage collection.

Alexander Yurkovets

I dont think that the memory is problem

You can see that the GC is doing nothing, but there is a constant load of CPU of 26%.

+1 Same problem, constant 25% CPU. Fresh install, new empty workspace.

Increasing memory in eclipse.ini has no effect.  Win10x64, ESXi VM

+1 I also have this issue. In fact, one of my four CPU cores goes straight to 100% as soon as I start Tizen Studio. Disabling the aforementioned plugin fixes the CPU issue, but of course things don't work anymore (e.g., deploying the app).

I believe the problem with DeviceMonitor class in org.tizen.common.sdblib_2.0.0.201610251816.jar

Cristian Loloiu

I have the same issue on 2 laptops, with W7 Home Pro x64 and W7 Ultimate x64 OSs. The problem seems to be in org.tizen.common.sdblib_2.0.0.201610251816.jar.

No one found a solution to this problem yet?

Jose Coimbra

Has anyone solved this issue yet? I have the same problem with all my laptops (Win 7 and Ubuntu).

It is incredibly annoying to have the fan always on and have a cpu usage of 25% to 50%!

Hai Blue

Anyone has solution for this?

On my Mac, TizenStudio always runs at eats 80-100% CPU!!!!!!!!!

Laptop FAN speed is MAX all the time, annoying, noisy....

I've the same problem on a Core i7-4500U and Windows 10 Pro x64.
This is a really annoying problem, since I'm using a Laptop and this Tizen Studio is  causing so much problems every time...

yongheon shin

This is Yongheon who is in charge of Tizen SDK.

First of all, we are really sorry about your inconvenience and it is under checking urgently.

After getting the reason and solution, we will update them on this post and release next SDK version as soon as possible.

Denis Miroshnikov

Hi,

Also FIX it  coming with last update !  https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TW-41

Jose Coimbra

Thank you Yongheon Shin.

yongheon shin

We found the clue of this issue in sdb activity.

So, we will update fixed Tizen Studio version soon.

Thank you.

Denis Miroshnikov

good news  ))   will wait  before my still alive ))) and work as P486 ))

James B

Hello yongheon shin,

Is there any timeline you will release the fix?

Thanks.

yongheon shin

Hello, James B.

I'm so sorry for late update.

New version is under internal testing, and it will be available during next week.

Thanks.

James B

No worries, and thank you for the support.

I'm looking forward to the update, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

cheers!

Stephan König

Thank you for the update.
Looking forward to get the update :)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

James B

Hi Yongheon Shin,

It has been two weeks since your last post.

How is the testing going? Will there be any update happening soon?

Please let us know.

cheers!

Marco Buettner

Updated is there ;) TizenStudi 1.1.1

James B

Wow thanks! Updated ... problem solved! No more CPU overheating, no more slow VM, every back to normal!

Thank you Marco for the notification, and thank you yongheon shin and the rest of the Tizen SDK team!.

cheers!

Kilim A

I updated at 18.02 and do see any changes

Denis Miroshnikov

I'm tied to wait for Updates...

You show old 1.1.0 Tizen studio .. updates still not come (

Marco Buettner

WTF ... Starts your week on other day? yongheon shin posted on 13th Feb. that the update will come during next week.. 20th till 24th Feb ;)

But I didnt see any problems... It works on laptop and PCs well ;>

Kilim A

 see pls pic.

When run emulator - 90 CPU

 This is problem i think....

Denis Miroshnikov

Yes, confirm in my case same result with TS 1.1.0 ...  fkkk

Marco Buettner

But have u performance issue? I dont think so... 30% load for nothing is high, but it will not increase more higher on "load" ... so ... I think its not a emergency issue...

Denis Miroshnikov

Yes I have same problem 30+% CPU for nothing ....

James B

It is a very big issue for me. Running inside a VM with a single-core CPU, it eats 100% of my CPU time. No good, and very slow (compared to earlier versions which didn't have this problem). Running on the host, outside the VM, it still eats a single core out of my quad-core CPU.

In both cases:

a) laptop fan is running like crazy

b) laptop temp is hot

c) battery usage is high, making it impossible for off-grid development.

I would say it is an **urgent** issue. I hope the fix is updated very soon, especially since I have had this problem since back in late November last year (since Tizen Studio 1.0.1 or 1.0.2, I think). Pretty please.

Stephan König

With the new v1.1.1 (27.02.2017) update it seems to be fixed :)

Jose Coimbra

I'm seeing no improvements at all. CPU always at least at 25% without doing anything.

yongheon shin

Dear Jose Coimbra

Could you share your information of Tizen Studio?

You can check the version in Package Manager. (Package Manager > Configuration)

Please share Repository, Distribution and snapshot.

Jose Coimbra

Hello,

Bellow is a snapshot of the package manager configuration window. I believe I'm using the latest version available. Do you need any extra info?

Vikram Dattu

My problem...

Package manager takes 100% of the CPU!

Why? why? why?

Or is it intentional?

But 100% All of it?

Dear Vikram Dattu

To improve download and installation speed, Package manager uses much CPU resource.

Does your package manager always take 100% when idling state?

Vikram Dattu

No. It doesn't take 100% in idle state. Only while downloading.

yongheon shin

In case of package manager, it use multi-thread operation for receiving quickly.

In general, it's normal operation. Could you let us know how long it took 100% cpu overhead in your host?

And, how was it after fininshing updates?

Vikram Dattu

Is it good to have threads to an extent where CPU consumption is 100%?

I think IDM and DonThemAll extention for Firefox are great examples. They don't hogg up all the CPU.

Increasing threads will not increase spped after bandwidth limit is reached.

The logic needs to be modified! It's too aggressive at the moment.

With 5Mbps speed my Laptop is almost unusable for hours due to this 100% consumption while updating SDK.

Maybe it is good with internet connection with Gbps spped lines, then it would take few minutes.

And about And, how was it after fininshing updates?,

it is normal after updates are finished. No problem there.
