You want play with SM-Z300H?

Only to be sure, you not mean SM-Z300F...

Ehm... you have tried allready to install any existing rpm files from TM1? On your unmodified, NOT rooted Z3?

Only to be sure if you can use app rpm...

Maybe you know or realize that commercial devices have read and write restrictions... higher Security...

Few folders are write protected... if you not used:

sdb root on

And the mounting stuff...

Maybe you can give 1 example...

Example for example.

:)

webkit2-extension-1.0.10-1.1.kiranedd.armv7l.rpm

Taken from Z1...

Looks like library stuff... *.so

Afffected folder:

/usr/lib

No idea if you can write into this folder...

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply, I am using SM-Z300H , and yes i understand about the read only permissions at some folders and we can not modify without being rooted.

I want to change some functionality of Calling mechanism and want to change in "org.tizen.call-ui-0.0.1-1.3.armv7l.rpm" (installs the binaries at /usr/apps)  without rooting the mobile phone.

Actually i am little afraid of rooting my mobile as it may damage my mobile. And if there is no way to install the rpm without the root permissions, then if you have any easy way to root the mobile kindly suggest.

Thanks

Thanx for your example. So more clear what you try...

Short opened this RPM with 7-ZIP and I can see SMACK file...

About rooted Z3.

I have only long time experience with rooted Z1. 1 year +...

Main "Sideeffect" is. Samsung have added ROOT detection app... so if /bin/su is found. Then you can not download anymore FOTA Firmware updates.

FOTA Server not inform you about new Firmware.

:)

As Odin user...

:)

Ask you self what is more dangerous to an device... copy & paste 1 file into rootfs.img or playing with system files and maybe SMACK rules...

So all modifying to System at your own risk.

Its your decision.

Example for rooted BPD4 Firmware is in other Thread...

You need Computer + USB cable...

As Windows user Odin... or Heimdall as Tool for Flashing. In Linux Heimdall is also available...

Sorry, for no direct link yet...

But sometimes threads or post are removed...

And I have no idea. How Samsung is "amused"... for spread "modified" Firmware... for their comercial non rooted device...

Hello Jasvinder,

Before you try to update the applications on your mobile your should realize that the packages that can be downloaded from http://download.tizen.org/ are not the packages used in a commercial device. In fact they might be a completely different implementations of the same thing. They also usually have limited functionality and uglier GUI comparing to the applications on the commercial device.

Peter Wegner

I think it is only example...

As he wrote about "modify"... so maybe he compile create own stuff... based on available sources...

As we all know. To get Reference Device(s) like RD-PQ or TM1 is for the most people in the world nearly IMPOSSIBLE.

Is the only alternate way to play with mobile... and Tizen... to use existing commercial device(s)...

Why not, if he want study...

Little bit Source is released long time ago for older Firmware... for SM-Z300H

http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=SM-Z300H

and SM-Z130H

http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=SM-Z130H

These are from commercial devices...

In theory 1 of the RPM packages contain also su... forgotten which one...

So he can do what ever he is able to do. Outside Emulator...
