RD-PQ and RD-210 doesn't support SIM because of licence issues.

What do you mean "licence issue"?

licence issue means a sort of authorization or permission to use.

I understand it, whan licence or permission was violated relative to micro sim support? And how I can test internet connection provided by operator without sim card?

A small example: If you get the device as import Samsung/Linux Foundation has to clarify it as smartphone because you have a GSM-Modem which work. But without a functional GSM-Modem you can deliver it as "Multimedia" device. Its cheaper and doesn't need more test for your mobile network. So its easier. Thats one of the reason.

Please confirm the GPS sensor is also not supported on RD-210 ? been said it belongs to the gsm modem module :( FYi, What is displayed in settings page is just a playback of nmea trace in /etc/...

Use Google for find infos about:

"Live Demo Unit"

These are DEMO devices from Samsung, with MISSING parts on PCB...

For instance I9300 Live Demo Unit.

NO GPS no Call... NO Softwareproblem.

:)

Its Hardware "protection"...

:)

I am pretty sure, RD-PQ is also Live Demo Unit with reduced parts on PCB. So you can't fix it...

Well, let's compare the missing parts.

Here is generic I9300: https ://pp.vk.me/c623330/v623330764/2b539/RHxtIxwL4tg.jpg

And that's the board of my M0 (RD-PQ): https ://pp.vk.me/c623330/v623330257/2f62c/57OVG4Xt7S8.jpg

I could not see any obviously missing parts. Additionally, in Tizen 2.3 I see Phone settings, it clearly states I don't have SIM card.

So I think either something like SIM power resistor is missing, or -- more probably - the bootloader disables something to power the SIM card.

Any ideas where to go on? I don't want to try installing Android from S3, it's a wrong way I think. Or?

P.S. Concerning legal issues - Samsung did not give us a GSM-enabled device, everything we do here is our own initiative.

Hello,

why do not you order a Samsung Z1 device, which official is sold in India

because it isnt so easy?

I'm more interested in the technical part.

I have more than one device, and it's not likely that I'll develop much for Tizen specifically for GSM (although Netmonitor would be a nice thing).

So I just asked whether anyone analyzed the bootloaders of RD-PQ and the hardware.

Upd: there is some more info about hardware similarity in http://habrahabr.ru/post/236925/ , thus seems it's a firmware issue.

As there were examples of RD-PQ depicted with network carrier, I wonder whether these bootloaders are available anywhere.

Thanx for Pics.

Looks interesting...

Maybe it is possible via Tizen to dump sboot...
