The notification count appearing on application icon is not disappearing

Hi,
We have created an app which uses PUSH notification. After the notification is received, when user come back to home page while the app is running in the background. The notification count is seen on the top right corner of the app icon. After viewing the notification received, the count does not disappear.
Can you let us know the solution for the issue at the earliest.
