DUID missing?

Hi,

I bought a Gear2, got all the setting up done, but could not find any DUID (Device Unique Identifier) in the IDE following the steps described in the relevant instructions:

To get the DUID (Device Unique Identifier):

  1. Connect your device to your host computer or launch the Emulator.
  2. In the Connection Explorer, check that the connected device or Emulator is visible.
  3. Select the device or Emulator, and click Properties.
  4. The DUID is visible on the Info panel.

Any idea why?

Tks.

Hi,

Sorry, but I don't understand what step from the steps above does fails?

Hi, Alex. Thanks you for prompt reply.

When I went for Properties of the device (right-clicked in the explorer)

Only "Name: SM-R380" was shown.

Just that, nothing followed, as opposed to what should be the DUID.

It’s strange. It should be visible. Unfortunately, I don’t have such device and can’t help you to check. I hope somebody else on the forum is able to check and let us know.

It really IS strange. If the situation continues I will request a replace from the Samsung shop that I picked up this piece of Gear2.

But won't sure that will fix the problem.

Could it be that I used a generic usb cable to connect the device, i.e. Gear2, to the laptop that I do development.

Does it help to change a dedicated Samsung usb cable? Just wild thoughts. Tell me what you think please.

Alex Ashirov

Hi,

I don’t know what cable do you use, but I don’t think that this is a reason. I used old Nokia microUSB cable to connect M1 dev without any problems. But if It’s possible, of course, you can try a dedicated Samsung cable.

My bad!

Sorry everybody. In actual fact, I installed Tizen SDK instead of Tizen SDK for Wearable, and was indeed using the former one to "recognize" my Gear2.

After switching to the Wearable SDK, everything turnrd out alright. My apologies.

Hi,
In Tizen IDE for Wearable 1.0.0.b2 I was able to observe DUID this way for Emulator and for Tizen mobile (M1 dev), but for Tizen mobile (M0) duid was empty (it is impossible for ref devices)
First string was " Name: ..."
Second string was "DUID (Device Unique IDentifer) : ..."
But I can' t check this case for Gear2.
Alexey.
