Can 2.3.0 app run on 2.4 device?

Lots of Tizen users still use 2.3.0 on Z1 (I know 2.4 is available, but for some reason, they do not upgrade).

If I make a native app using 2.3.0 SDK, will it run on a 2.4 (or newer, 3.0) device?

In theory yes...

 

I am using few TPKs from Tizen 2.3... on my Z1 2.4 CPD5 Firmware...

 

For Tizen 3.0 no idea yet. As it is still under construction...

I know nobody with TM1 or TM2 who can test Tizen 3... Nor I know commercial Mobile with Tizen 3...

No infos leaked...

 

Last days I got notifaction... that WhatsApp will be closed...

Upgrade to Tizen...

Whatsapp for 2.3 will be closed.

 

If WA not work anymore on 2.3 ... few more Z1 users are forced to update to 2.4 ...

Or they will buy Android handset...

All tizen users.

Now version 2.4 is 71%, but it is still not possible to ignore 29% of the 2.3 version.

2.4 is a no-brainer imo; you can still consider a 2.3 version later (if it's still worthwile)

1 reason why Z1 still use Tizen 2.3 is... because he/she can not update...

Most users only update via FOTA...

FOTA require VALID Firmware for incremental update...

So if Firmware on Z1 not valid... no information about new Firmware can received from FOTA Server...

You get only Info you are on latest Firmware...

 

Many users are "scared" to update via Kies 3/Smart Switch...

no PC or USB cable...

400 MB Download or more required...

 

Kies3/Smart switch can not repair all fail Firmware Situations without erase all data like Factory Reset...

 

Users are more scared to use Odin to fix problems and update without dataloss to 2.4 Firmware...

 

Service Center require sometimes money for Firmware update... depend on luck...

Since this, many many more users post not valid Firmware combinations... so FOTA is not possible...

Now that Z4 (Version 3.0) devices  will be on market I'm scared.

Because one of my apps I've developed with version 2.3.1 to cover most of the devices. And it's not compatible with Z4?

What can be done to support all the devices?

The problem is with native app only! Seller office is not listing Z4 in supported device list! :(
