[SOLVED] Tizen emulator freezes under VMware, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr)

Hi,

Installed Tizen SDK 2.2.1 (Nov 9, 2013) under VMware, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) base, Linux Mint 17 (Qiana) Release Candidate, using Ubuntu 12.10 prerequisites and a soft-link for libudev (https://developer.tizen.org/forums/native-application-development/fyi-tizen-sdk-2.2.1-nov-9-2013-sdb-startup-problem-libudev).

PROBLEM: Tizen emulator starts up and works fine, but quite frequently freezes when changing device Settings, while moving in and out of, say, NFC, Date and time, Language and keyboard, Display language/Region, etc. Emulator logs do not show any error messages. Emulator configuration - Resolution: HD, Density: 316, Skin: Phone, RAM Size: 512, Max Touch: 10, File Sharing: OFF, CPU VT: ON, GPU: ON.

SOLUTION: this seems to be a weird manifestation of a famous VMware guest sound problem, "A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system". Either find a solution for it, or remove the Sound Card driver altogether from virtual machine Settings. Also check your VMware guest for other driver-related failures.
