I am developing a video player for the Gear 2, Gear S. 

According to the documentation both MKV anf WMV are supported.  I even got a recommendation from the app review group that I should support these formats in my applications.

 

HOWEVER

While I have no issue playing mp4,ogv,3gp both using the HTML 5 Video Element and the external application using application control.  Both return unsupported file type error when I give it either an MKV or WMV file.  The MKV is identical to a working MP4, just in a different container.  The WMV is one that I was sent by Samsung support as something I should add support for.

Thanks for the information, but that really doesn't answer why when I play and MKV with the same audio/video as an MP4 it complains about the file type.  All the documentation including what you just sent claims to support MKV.

I'm not an expert but mkv files are very finicky: your file is OK with other gstreamer apps ?

Yeah not a single one of those test files plays.  2 of them will play audio only, the reset crash. Again this hapens as well with the built in player.  It really seems to me that they don't really support MKV or WMV on the Wearable platform.

Right, same list.

No MKV or WMV except on some files it will read the audio from them.

I'm tried seting mimetypes, no go.

I have no idea how to file a Jira ticket for Tizen.  I had hoped samsung support would be on this forum.
